It is an oval-shaped glacial lake that is only 40 km from Gangtok City and almost about 1Km in length with 15 meters depth. The name Tsomgo is made of two words in Bhutia Language 'Tso' means 'lake' and 'Mgo' means 'head' in a short 'source of the lake'. This high altitude lake is surrounded by snow-capped, steep mountains and remains frozen during wintertime. As summer beings to step-in, the glacier melts, and the lake gets its origin. The locals consider the lake to be sacred, and it reflects different colors with the change in seasons.
Located in Tashi about 8 Km from Gangtok town built by Tashi Namgyal, which offers a panoramic view of Mt Kanchenjunga on a clear day with Binoculars, and Telescopes mounted at the viewpoint, which can get an unobstructed view of the mountains, and forest on the opposite side.This famous tourist point Tashi View Point is located at a distance of 10 km from the main town of Gangtok and is mostly known for offering some of the best sunrise and sunset views as well as the panoramic Mt. Also known as Sumendu Lake, this 1.25 Km long man-made lake with 80 feet depth is a well-known tourist spot that encounters good footfall throughout the year. This place is beautifully decorated, with a flowering garden and coniferous trees on one side and the Mirik Lake on the other with an arc-shaped bridge in the middle, perfect for a photo op. Tourists can do boating in this clean lake or take a horse ride within the boundaries to check the beauty of this place. There are souvenir shops and local food stalls set up near the lake where tourists can enjoy hot Dim sum, tea, or coffee while praising the beauty of this place
